This basic course is suitable for medical students and it covers following topics: common errors in statistics, planning an experiment, sample size calculations, graphical data exploration, fundamental statistical terms, statistical tests (such as chi-square, t-test and Wilcoxon test), linear regression models (including ANalysis Of VAriance), logistic regression models, survival analysis (including Kaplan-Meier curves and Cox regression). We will use practical data examples and exercises using the free software R. Own notebook with R installed is helpful. We will use the book by Peter Dalgaard. Introductory Statistics with R. Springer, 2nd edition, 2008. Course material is in English. Course language is German or English.
Please bring your own laptop to the seminar.
Maximal number of participants is 15-25.
